Efficient operations management through centralized control of railway main lines
Operations control centres are the pivotal point of modern railway management and an important factor to enhance the quality of transport services. TravisMain, Funkwerk IT's modern control system for railway main lines, concentrates all tasks involved in monitoring, dispatching, control and operational safety management in a few locations, in some cases in only one. With the centralized control and monitoring of railway operations and the high degree of automation the system enhances cost effectiveness, optimises timetables and services and improves passenger safety.

All operational data flow together in these centres and contribute in many ways to higher-quality rail transport. The centres serve to improve internal communication and are the basis for more comprehensive passenger information. Furthermore, they enable optimal deployment of personnel and resources and, by carrying out detailed evaluation of statistics, provide criteria for continuous improvement of rail services.

Operations control centres in action
Within one of the world's largest automation projects in rail traffic, the "Operations Control Centre" project of DB Netz AG, the control and supervision levels of railway operations were combined. In the consortium BZ 2000 of Funkwerk IT, Thales and Siemens, Funkwerk IT was responsible for the development of the complex software and delivered the main dispatching component to this major project with TravisMain.

Further control centres of Funkwerk IT are in operation in Switzerland at SBB (formerly BLS Zurich, now Rail Control System RCS) and in Hungary at MÁV.
