RIMOS - Central Data Pool for Public Transport

RIMOS is the central data pool for passenger information designed by Funkwerk IT. Based on VDV / SIRI the data pool enables exchange of data between different transport systems and companies operating in the same public transportation area.
RIMOS provides detailed information for passengers about the current situation on the basis of real-time data together with an overview of all possible inter-system connections - both on displays and the internet. This is especially important at interchange stations and stop points used by different transport systems. Furthermore, RIMOS can be used to give passenger information in the form of up-to-date free-text messages on any display.

Built on standards
RIMOS replaces a purely bilateral coupling of systems (such as operations control, information, display control systems, etc.) with a central system according to VDV 452, 453 and 454. This platform enables easy exchange of data for all connected systems. RIMOS has been designed to allow integration of customers' already existing technology. Furthermore, infrastructure in use such as operations control, passenger information or other timetable-oriented systems are enabled to communicate with each other via the VDV / SIRI standard.
