Since December 2005, the German Federal Railway Office (EBA) has recognised Vossloh Information Technologies GmbH (Vossloh IT) as a Qualified Development Company for the inspection of safety installations. Vossloh IT's own Safety Assessment Centre is therefore entitled to perform the reviews of safety cases for safety installations made by Vossloh IT, such as electronic interlocking systems, in accordance with the regulations of the EBA.

Dr. Thomas Pasternok, Head of the Vossloh IT Safety Assessment Centre, sees clear advantages in the company's own Safety Assessment Centre: "From now on, we will use the model of the Safety Assessment Centre, which has proved to be reliable in Germany for many years, for the inspection and assessment of the company's own technical signalling products. At the same time, our internal know-how, i.e. our detailed knowledge of the employed techniques, is a great advantage. Furthermore, the use of Safety Assessment Centres relieves the respective supervisory authorities and contributes to optimising the development and approval periods."

Beyond that, the Vossloh IT Safety Assessment Centre monitors the conformity of the company's own development processes with the CENELEC standards EN 50126, 50128 and prEN50129 in the area of development of safe systems.

In addition to Vossloh Information Technologies, there are only three other companies whose Safety Assessment Centres are recognised throughout Germany.
