AlisterCargo –The Electronic Interlocking System for Marshalling Yards
Shunting to the top throughout Europe
AlisterCargo, the electronic interlocking system developed by Funkwerk Information Technologies, is a particularly cost-effective answer to the special requirements of modern, high-performance marshalling yards, gravity hump yards, industrial railways and depots. AlisterCargo uses reliable and proven standard technologies from other industrial sectors with high safety requirements. The benefits include reduced costs, flexibility and future security.

The main advantages of the AlisterCargo System
Modern, modular system architecture with open interfaces
Developed in accordance with the European CENELEC standards EN 50126, 50128, 50129 and others
Tool-supported development process with verifiable requirement management
Simple engineering
Use of tried-and-tested hard- and software components from the field of industrial automation e.g. programmable logic controllers (PLC)
Ease of maintenance plus convenient diagnostics system
Low investment and maintenance costs
Economic spare parts management
Easy to upgrade

Born of practical experience, designed for practical use
AlisterCargo, the electronic interlocking system, has already proved its suitability for practical application in numerous cases. For instance, the Swedish infrastructure operator Banverket has been using initial applications since 1997. Now, all four major gravity hump yards in Sweden are controlled by AlisterCargo, shunting up to 200 cars per hour at the gravity hump yard:
Marshalling yard in Borlänge: 24 tracks, 25 points
Marshalling yard in Göteborg: 34 tracks, 45 points
Marshalling yard in Malmö: 26 tracks, 27 points
Marshalling yard in Hallsberg: 32 tracks, 44 points

All functions combined in a single system
AlisterCargo combines all the functions of a modern electronic interlocking in a single system – which makes it ideally suited to meet your specific requirements. AlisterCargo’s main function is to control and monitor all trackside components (signals, points, car retarders, train detection systems) as well as the traffic in marshalling yards with integrated retarder control. It is possible to set both shunting routes and locally operated areas, but elements can also be individually switched. AlisterCargo can be flexibly adapted to suit the respective requirements of your cargo transport.

Efficient automation
For gravity hump operations, the cut list is processed and administered by the system. This forms the basis for full automated hump shunting. The computer automatically sets the points for every cut that is shunted down the hump. When doing this, the computer not only controls the marshalling track for every car, but also the retarders along the marshalling track.

Intuitive operation
The control room forms the centrepiece of AlisterCargo. Depending on the complexity of the system, the control room will feature one or more workplaces and a service point. The user-friendly graphic interface shows the current operating state of the entire marshalling yard. AlisterCargo is designed for intuitive operation using the displayed elements or understandable menus.

Integrated diagnostics and maintenance system
The service point is used for system analysis and maintenance purposes. In keeping with this function, the service point makes detailed system information available. This includes malfunction windows as well as acoustic alarms and accessible failure statistics. Any malfunctions can thus be immediately identified, limited and repaired. In addition, maintenance work can be carried out more efficiently. The diagnostics system features an interface for remote maintenance, thus enabling access to the system via a telephone line and a PC or laptop.

Standardised software
Standardised industrial software is used as a basis for all system processing needs as well as the display of messages and problems. A positive side-effect is that the simple and largely standardised operation of the software considerably reduces staff training requirements and costs.
