Funkwerk Information Technologies GmbH, Kiel, numbers among Europe’s leading companies in the field of systems technology for rail-bound transport. In cooperation with our customers, we develop information and communication technologies that ensure efficient operations management. Our customers profit in several ways: attractive passenger services, optimised control processes as well as reduced operating and staff costs.

The company is managed by Reinhold Hundt. Since February 7, 2007 Funkwerk Information Technologies belongs to the business field Traffic & Control Communication of Funkwerk AG. Funkwerk AG generated global sales of EUR 290.6 million with a total of over 1,600 employees in 2007.

Our Locations
Development work is performed at our locations in Kiel, York, Malmö, Warsaw and Hyderabad/India. The international activities of Funkwerk Information Technologies GmbH are being systematically extended in response to growing demand. These activities equally include individual on-site customer services, which are also provided by our branch office in Berlin as well as our sales offices in Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Budapest.
Our Employees
Our approximately 200 employees – mainly IT experts and engineers that have specialised in railway technology – are key to the successful implementation of our projects. They not only stand for Funkwerk IT’s corporate competence, but also put their copious expertise at the customer’s disposal with a level of commitment, creativity and sense of responsibility that is second to none.
Our Services
With more than 20 years of experience in the sector and profound knowledge of all stages of the railway operational process, Funkwerk Information Technologies provides a range of services that include consultancy, project management, analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of information systems.
Our project teams are made up of specialists for the business processes of railway and transport companies. This sector-specific know-how enables our consultants to provide competent systems advice from basic operational planning to management consultancy, thus permitting the creation of customer-specific concepts that make themselves pay in efficient operations management.
Our objective is to provide best functionalities, individual solutions and innovations using high-tech IT and telecommunications systems. In our capacity as a systems integrator, one of our classic tasks lies in developing appropriate interfaces to ensure smooth integration of new technology into existing system landscapes. We assume full project responsibility as a matter of course and can even act as general contractor.

Funkwerk Information Technologies is certified in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. System security is a top priority at Funkwerk IT: rely on us to provide reliable and functional solutions whenever interface confidentiality, genuine data or user anonymity are critical system requirements.
Our Safety Assessment Center
Since December 2005, the German Federal Railway Office (EBA) has recognised Funkwerk Information Technologies GmbH as a qualified development company for the inspection of safety installations. Funkwerk IT's own Safety Assessment Center is therefore entitled to perform the reviews of safety cases for safety installations made by Funkwerk IT, such as electronic interlocking systems, in accordance with the regulations of the EBA.
Beyond that, the Funkwerk IT Safety Assessment Center monitors the conformity of the company's own development processes with the CENELEC standards EN 50126, 50128 and EN 50129 in the area of the development of safe systems.
